In early July, parent automaker Stellantis recalled 332,000 Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Jeep vehicles over an issue with the vehicles’ airbags. Now, it’s recalling more than 19,500 examples of its Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan for an issue with the plug-in hybrid’s battery

Affected vehicles include model-year 2017-21 Pacifica Hybrids. The issue is linked to an abnormality in the cells of the models’ high-voltage battery pack. Owners are advised to refrain from charging their vans, as the risk of fire is reduced when the battery is depleted, and to park away from structures and other vehicles until a remedy is performed.

The remedy for the issue is currently under development and involves a software update to detect the abnormality; dealers will replace the high-voltage battery for free if the abnormality is discovered. The automaker will mail notification letters to owners, but owners can also check Mopar’s recalls site or the National Safety Council’s site after July 24.

Additionally, they can contact Stellantis at 800-853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
