Acura unveiled its first electric vehicle, the 2024 ZDX, in the summer of 2023. Deliveries of the electric SUV will begin in the spring with pricing set to start at $64,500 (excluding destination charge).

Acura offers the 2024 ZDX in two trim levels: A-Spec and Type S. Both draw energy from a 102-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The former is available either with single-motor rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive; the rear-drive A-Spec makes 340 horsepower, but Acura hasn’t released power specifications for the AWD version yet. The brand estimates the single-motor A-Spec will be able to travel 325 miles on a charge, with the dual-motor model needing to plug in 10 miles earlier. Capable of taking up to 190 kilowatts on a DC fast charger, Acura says the ZDX is able to add up to 81 miles of range in about 10 minutes.

Type S has historically been Acura’s designation for its highest-performing models, and the ZDX Type S is the most powerful SUV in the brand’s history. Here, the two motors combine for an estimated 500 hp. To help corral the momentum those motors generate, the Type S is fitted with a standard height-adjustable suspension with adaptive dampers, expansive 15.6-inch Brembo front brakes and 22-inch wheels. Acura claims the Type S will get 288 miles per charge.

Standard and Optional Safety Equipment
The AcuraWatch suite of advanced driver-assist systems is standard on every 2024 ZDX. It includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure steering assist, lane-centering steering and adaptive cruise control. Additionally, the ZDX includes rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking and active blind spot monitoring that will resist lane changes if there’s a vehicle in the driver’s blind spot. Hands Free Cruise, which we suspect is GM’s Super Cruise with different branding, is standard on the Type S as part of the AcuraWatch 360+ suite.
