Introduction to the 2025 Ford Police Interceptor

The 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility maintains its hybrid powertrain, even though Ford has discontinued the 3.3-liter V-6 hybrid powertrain from the production Explorer’s lineup after the 2023 model year. Ford Pro has just launched the new interceptor, ensuring that law enforcement can benefit from this efficient powertrain.

Powertrain Details and Efficiency

The 2025 hybrid Police Interceptor Utility is equipped with a 285-hp naturally aspirated V-6 engine paired with a 44-hp electric motor, resulting in a combined output of 318 horsepower. This setup is particularly beneficial for police officers, who often spend significant time idling or using low-speed maneuvers. The hybrid’s battery can handle most of the idle workload, significantly reducing fuel consumption.

Ford estimates that the hybrid system can save up to 838 gallons of fuel per year. Over six years, this could amount to savings of approximately ,500, assuming gas is priced at .50 per gallon.

Engine Options and Performance

The non-hybrid engine options are also available for the 2025 model. The 285-hp 3.3-liter V-6 makes a return, alongside the turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that boasts 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. These options ensure that the Police Interceptor can meet various enforcement needs, providing a balance between power and efficiency.

New Features for Improved Usability

In addition to the powertrain options, the 2025 Police Interceptor includes several quality-of-life improvements. One significant upgrade is the new 12.3-inch LCD digital instrument cluster, which features a certified speedometer to provide officers with clearer, more accessible information while driving. This enhancement aims to improve the daily operations and safety for officers on duty.

Overall, the 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility combines reliability, efficiency, and advanced features to support law enforcement effectively.
