Bentley Pushes Back Launch of First EV

Renowned British car manufacturer Bentley has announced a delay in the release of its first electric vehicle (EV). Initially scheduled for a 2025 launch, the new timeline now extends to 2027. CEO of Bentley cited software issues and other platform-related concerns as primary reasons for this postponement.

Leveraging Volkswagen Group’s PPE Architecture

The forthcoming Bentley EV will utilize a modified version of Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. This platform, already in use by other high-end marques within the group, aims to provide a robust foundation for Bentley’s entry into the electric car market. This decision underscores Bentley’s commitment to maintaining its high standards of performance and luxury while transitioning to electric mobility.

Ambitious Range and Advanced Technology

Targeting a range of at least 373 miles, Bentley’s EV is set to offer a considerable driving range that meets the expectations of its discerning clientele. Additionally, the vehicle will come equipped with advanced driver-assistance technology, promising a blend of safety and convenience.

Future of Bentley’s Electric Vehicles

Despite the delay, Bentley is still committed to launching a series of EV models by 2030. The company had initially planned to release a new electric model every year starting from 2025. With the first model now set for 2027, it is anticipated that Bentley will go fully electric by roughly 2033. This timeline reflects the brand’s long-term strategy to embrace sustainable luxury without compromising on quality.
