Introduction to Kia’s NACS Adapter Initiative

In a significant step for electric vehicle (EV) owners, Kia has announced a comprehensive plan to provide free North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters to customers of its EV6, EV9, and Niro EV models. This development follows Kia’s decision to adopt the NACS charge ports throughout its electric vehicle lineup, a move unveiled in October 2023.

Details on the Free Adapter Offer

For customers who purchase a 2024 or 2025 EV9 or a 2024 EV6 starting from September 4, 2023, Kia will provide a complimentary NACS adapter. This adapter grants access to an extensive network of over 16,500 NACS DC fast chargers. The delivery of these adapters is expected to commence in early 2025, enhancing the convenience and flexibility for Kia’s electric vehicle owners.

Purchasing Options for Earlier Customers

Owners of EV6, EV9, and Niro EV who took delivery of their vehicles prior to September 4 will not be left out. These customers will have the opportunity to purchase a NACS adapter at Kia dealerships in the future. Kia’s initiative not only emphasizes its commitment to providing robust charging solutions but also aims to ensure that its customers are not disadvantaged in accessing crucial charging infrastructure.

As Kia continues to innovate within the electric vehicle market, it is essential for owners to stay informed about these changes. Starting January 15, 2025, all Kia electric vehicle owners will enjoy greater access to DC fast charging stations, further solidifying Kia’s position in the evolving automotive landscape.
