Introduction to the New Tire Offering

In an impressive move aimed at enhancing the ownership experience, Porsche has announced its initiative to provide a free set of Michelin tires specifically designed for Carrera GT owners. This offer addresses a common issue faced by owners of this remarkable sports car, which is known for its powerful 604 horsepower mid-mounted aluminum V10 engine.

Importance of Modern Tires for Classic Cars

While enjoying a Carrera GT, many owners encounter the unfortunate consequence of not putting enough miles on their vehicles. As a result, tires can deteriorate over time. Porsche’s collaboration with Michelin has produced a model-specific version of the Pilot Sport Cup 2 performance tires, marking the second time the automaker has created new tires for this model since 2013. Not only do these modern tires offer improved traction, but they also enhance driving dynamics and provide better feedback, making the car easier to handle.

Benefits of the New Tire Installation

According to Porsche development driver Jörg Bergmeister, the introduction of the new tires significantly benefits the driving experience. He stated, “The new tires do not just make the Carrera GT faster, they also make it easier for the driver to pilot the car in a spirited manner.” Additionally, these modern tires improve stopping distances—reducing them by up to eight feet from 62 mph and an impressive 39 feet from 124 mph. This initiative is also connected to Porsche’s recent recall concerning potential suspension issues, showcasing the automaker’s commitment to maintaining the legacy of its vehicles even after decades on the road.
