Understanding Wireless Features

Genesis has made a significant leap forward by incorporating wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in their 2025 GV80 and GV80 Coupe SUVs. Initially promised as a standard feature, this capability has had “late availability” with the vehicles first shipped lacking it. Thankfully, Genesis has started to resolve this through an over-the-air (OTA) software update, providing a pathway for all eligible vehicles.

Eligible Models for the Update

The OTA update is available for model-year 2021-25 Genesis vehicles, including buyers of the new 2025 GV80 and GV80 Coupe, assuming these vehicles are set up for OTA updates via Genesis Connected Services. Notably, vehicles manufactured after late September 2024 come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto already installed, enhancing the driving experience right from the start.

How to Install the Update

For Genesis vehicles enrolled in Genesis Connected Services, the OTA update can be downloaded automatically using the car’s cellular connection. Owners will receive a prompt in their vehicle inviting them to accept and install the update. For those preferring not to wait for the OTA rollout, Genesis allows a manual update option. Users can download the required files from Genesis’ website onto a USB drive and then insert it into the vehicle’s USB port for immediate installation.

In consideration of the 2025 Genesis G80, owners will be pleased to know that no update is needed; these models come equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features out of the factory, ensuring a seamless transition into the world of wireless connectivity.
