Introduction to the 4Runner TRD Surf

The 2024 SEMA Show will showcase the Toyota 4Runner TRD Surf concept, a modern tribute to the nostalgic two-door model that debuted in 1984. This reinvention brings back memories of simpler times, channeling the spirit of the original 4Runner while incorporating contemporary engineering advancements.

Design Elements and Features

The most striking aspect of the TRD Surf concept is its two-door layout, which gives it a short wheelbase and a more aggressive stance compared to its four-door counterpart. Measuring two inches wider, the vehicle is fitted with imposing 37-inch tires on 17-inch custom wheels, enhancing its macho aesthetic. The deep blue paint accented with turquoise stripes and features such as the removable top are designed to pay homage to the classic design while embracing modern customization possibilities.

Performance and Practicality

Under the hood, the 4Runner TRD Surf retains the proven turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. This robust performance is complemented by an eight-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel-drive system, making it viable for off-road adventures. Notably, the concept includes a custom exhaust setup and enhanced suspension components, signaling Toyota’s commitment to both functionality and style.

The 4Runner TRD Surf’s interior boasts waterproof features along with practical elements such as a front seat that flips forward for easier access to the rear. With a design that encapsulates the colors and themes inspired by surfing, this model is not just a vehicle; it’s a journey back to the electrifying designs of the past that many enthusiasts fondly remember.
