Jeep Cherokee’s Comeback

The Jeep Cherokee, a nameplate that has been synonymous with the brand’s compact SUV offerings, is set to make a significant return in 2025. This revival was announced by Jeep’s CEO, Antonio Filosa, during the Los Angeles Auto Show. As part of Jeep’s strategic direction, the new Cherokee will feature a hybrid powertrain, signaling a notable shift towards more sustainable vehicle options.

Hybrid Powertrain Unveiling

While the specifics remain to be confirmed, it is still unclear whether the Jeep Cherokee will come as a traditional hybrid or a plug-in hybrid version akin to the Grand Cherokee 4xe. This uncertainty leaves enthusiasts and potential buyers curious about the capabilities and functionalities of the upcoming model. However, it is a positive step for the brand, as the last Cherokee model was largely overlooked after the discontinuation of the vehicle post-2023.

Looking Ahead

The introduction of a hybrid Jeep Cherokee marks a pivotal moment for the automaker, particularly as the industry increasingly moves towards electrification. Filosa hinted that the platform utilized for the new crossover will later facilitate an all-electric version if market demands necessitate it. Jeep currently offers two plug-in hybrid models in the U.S., namely the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe, demonstrating their commitment to diversifying their powertrain offerings.
