Introduction to the Hyundai RN24

The Hyundai RN24 prototype is an exciting embodiment of innovation, bridging the exhilarating experience of motorsport with electric vehicle (EV) technology. Melding the Ioniq 5 N’s twin motor powertrain with a World Rally Championship (WRC)-inspired chassis, the RN24 transforms into a compact and thrilling hot hatch, promising astonishing performance on any stage.

Engineering Excellence and Performance

As a serious engineering exercise packaged in an electrifying design, the RN24 showcases a wheelbase reduced to 2,660mm, similar to that of the i20 N Rally1 car. It features fully adjustable Sachs dampers and a robust roll cage, enhancing safety while contributing to its agile handling. With a staggering power output of 650bhp, the RN24 accelerates from 0 to 62mph in just 3.0 seconds, exemplifying Hyundai’s commitment to merging agility with performance.

Innovative Features and Future Prospects

One of the standout features of the RN24 is the innovative e-handbrake, which utilizes the rear motor to mimic a traditional hydraulic handbrake’s effects. This technology not only eliminates warm-up waits but also reduces weight, showcasing Hyundai’s forward-thinking approach to EV design. Despite being stripped down to just two race seats and minimal bodywork, the RN24 retains the 84kWh battery from the Ioniq 5 N, highlighting the challenges of weight reduction in electric vehicles. Fans can look forward to similar ingenious technologies appearing in future N models.
