Important News for Nissan EV Drivers

In July 2023, Nissan announced a groundbreaking agreement with Tesla that will enable owners of Nissan electric vehicles to utilize Tesla’s extensive supercharging network. This network currently hosts more than 17,800 superchargers across the nation, significantly enhancing the charging options available to Nissan drivers.

Adapter Availability and Transition to NACS

Starting December 10, Nissan EV drivers will have the opportunity to charge their vehicles at Tesla stations. Initially, the Nissan Ariya will require a special adapter due to compatibility issues with the Tesla charging plug, known as the North American Charging Standard (NACS). The adapter is available for purchase at 5 from Nissan dealers or online, allowing Ariya drivers to join their Ford and GM counterparts in accessing Tesla’s charging facilities.

Expanding the Charging Network

This collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing the electric vehicle ecosystem. With the addition of Tesla’s supercharging stations, Nissan will now offer its drivers access to a robust network of over 100,000 public chargers, thanks to partnerships with companies like Electrify America, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint, and EVgo. Additionally, Nissan EV owners can conveniently find charging stations, check charger availability, and monitor their vehicle’s status through the MyNissan app.
