The 2025 Dodge Hornet brings fresh enhancements to an already dynamic compact SUV. In a lineup renowned for high horsepower and thrilling performance, the Hornet stands out with its plug-in hybrid variant, the Hornet R/T, delivering a total of 288 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. This impressive power enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 mph in a claimed 5.6 seconds.

New Features for 2025

For the 2025 model year, Dodge has introduced optional paddle shifters for the GT model, giving drivers more control over their driving experience. Additionally, buyers can now access a one-day session at Radford Racing School, thanks to Dodge’s partnership aimed at promoting high-performance driving skills. It’s an exciting opportunity for enthusiasts to refine their driving techniques at a professional level.

Powertrain Specs and Fuel Efficiency

Maintaining the performance edge, the 2025 Hornet offers two robust turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The entry-level GT is powered by the Hurricane4, a 2.0-liter engine producing 268 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. With a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive, the GT achieves a 0-60 mph time of 6.5 seconds in sport mode. The R/T’s 1.3-liter turbocharged engine, paired with a stout electric motor, provides standard AWD and Powershot functionality, adding 30 hp for brief bursts.

Fuel efficiency remains commendable. The Hornet R/T’s electric capabilities allow it to travel up to 33 miles on electricity alone, with an overall rating of 29 mpg combined. The GT returns an EPA-estimated 21/29/24 mpg city/highway/combined.

Safety Features and Trim Levels

Safety is a priority with the 2025 Hornet. Standard offerings include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitors, and rear cross-traffic alert. The optional Tech Pack adds advanced features like automated parking and a 360-degree camera.

The Hornet GT and R/T come in two trims, base and plus. Standard equipment for the GT includes 17-inch wheels, LED exterior lighting, and dual-zone climate control. The R/T adds 18-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, and power-adjustable front seats. The Plus trim enhances both models with features like a power liftgate, leather upholstery, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
