Introduction
The 2025 Kia Sorento maintains its base price at $33,365, following a 2024 update that refined its grille and headlights for a resemblance to the larger Telluride. Rolling into the new model year, the Sorento sees minimal changes, adding black badging for the X-Line and X-Pro trims along with a new gray exterior color option. Despite being in a competitive segment, the Sorento stands out with its standard third-row seat and two hybrid powertrain options.
Powertrain Specs and MPG
The 2025 Sorento’s base LX and S trims are powered by a 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering 195 pounds-feet of torque and paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The LX is available only with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is a $2,000 option on the S trim. Higher trims like the EX, SX, and SX-P offer a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine producing 281 horsepower and 312 pounds-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Though official 2025 figures are pending, the 2024 models provide an estimate: the LX and FWD S return 23/31/26 mpg city/highway/combined, while the AWD S offers 23/28/25 mpg. Turbocharged models achieve 20/29/23 mpg with FWD and 20/27/23 mpg with AWD.
