2025 Mazda CX-5: Entry-Level 2.5 S Trim Now Below $30,000

Introduction

Mazda has announced a significant pricing update for its bestselling vehicle, the CX-5. For the 2025 model year, the compact SUV will see the return of the entry-level 2.5 S trim, bringing its starting price below the $30,000 mark. This move is expected to further boost the popularity of the CX-5, which has already outsold Mazda’s next three bestsellers combined in 2023.

What’s New in the 2025 Mazda CX-5

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 maintains much of its predecessor’s features, with the primary changes being the addition of two USB-C ports for front-seat occupants and the reintroduction of the 2.5 S trim. Notably, the higher 2.5 S Premium trim has been eliminated. The 2.5 S models are powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 187 horsepower and 186 pounds-feet of torque. Turbo trims offer a turbocharged version of the engine, providing up to 256 hp and 320 pounds-feet of torque on premium fuel. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.

Pricing and Availability

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is set to go on sale later this summer. The full line-up pricing is as follows, inclusive of a $1,420 destination fee:

  • 2.5 S: $29,990
  • 2.5 S Select: $31,320
  • 2.5 S Preferred: $32,670
  • 2.5 S Carbon Edition: $34,020
  • 2.5 S Premium Plus: $36,620
  • Carbon Turbo: $38,420
  • Turbo Premium: $39,220
  • Turbo Signature: $42,020

Safety Equipment and Trim Levels

The entry-level 2.5 S trim, priced just under $30,000, features 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, and black lower-body trim. Inside, it includes keyless start, cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, reclining rear seats, and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard safety features encompass forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure steering assist, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, a rear-seat reminder, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Higher trims offer additional features such as synthetic leather, heated front seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, and more advanced safety and convenience features as you move up the range.
