Introduction to the Super-Farthing

What do you get when you combine hundreds of kilos of spare steel, a retired Yamaha R6, and a dash of mad genius? You get Greg Mitchell’s world record-breaking masterpiece: the ‘Super-Farthing’. This contraption, dreamt up after a YouTube binge, redefined the term ‘hair-brained’ ingenuity and set out to conquer the roads with style and might.

The Engineering Marvel

Mitchell, a Swindon-based engineer, poured countless hours into the Super-Farthing, achieving a towering height that sits a meter above its original Yamaha form. The bicycle boasts an awe-inspiring 165kg front wheel, a hydraulically-assisted stabilizer system, and a staggering weight of nearly half a tonne. The journey to success was not without its challenges, as Mitchell faced difficulties initially intended components along the way.

The Road Ahead

After many late nights and a wealth of determination, the Super-Farthing achieved a commendable top speed of 50 mph. But riding this grand creation comes with a thrill that only a few can handle. With improvements in steering and a bespoke hydraulic power steering system, the bike is making waves in the biking community. Join us as we keep an eye on Greg Mitchell and his ambitious creation on its quest for more speed, making it a true spectacle on two wheels!
