Back to the Desert: Aprilia’s Rally Tale

Once again, Aprilia has rolled back into the dusty trails of the Africa Eco Race, determined to repeat their fantastic debut victory. This year, their Tuareg 660 motorcycles are not just ready; they’re tricked-out and raring to show off their capabilities. An expanded lineup now features three riders, bringing a blend of veteran experience and youthful enthusiasm to the grueling 3,668-mile rally raid through Morocco, Mauritania, and Senegal.

Meet the Riders: Stars of the Sand

Leading the charge is none other than Jacopo Cerutti, who dazzled last year with a stunning performance that secured the top spot for Aprilia. With the rally spirit in his veins, he shares, “The dream is to win again!” Confidence is palpable, especially as he prepares for competition against fierce rivals. Joining him is Francesco Montanari, who seeks to build on his solid performance from last year. And let’s not forget the rookie, 23-year-old Marco Menichini, who is ripe with potential and ready to make waves in the junior class.

The Race to the Finish: Strategies and Stakes

As the seventh day of racing unfolds, the Aprilia team has reached Amodjar, Mauritania, where the stakes couldn’t be higher. Cerutti currently sits in second place, just four minutes and thirty-nine seconds behind Yamaha’s Alessandro Botturi. With Montanari and Menichini also performing well, the team is clearly in the running for glory. Massimo Rivola, Aprilia’s Racing CEO, states, “Defending the crown won’t be easy, but we trust in our team and the Tuareg’s proven capabilities.” The race continues, and with each mile, the thrill of victory—or the agony of defeat—awaits.
