An Unfortunate Season for Yamaha

Yamaha’s performance in the previous MotoGP season was marked by disappointment, culminating in the worst results in the team’s history. Finishing second to last in the constructors’ championship, the team faced the pressing need for change and revitalization. As the 2025 season approaches, there are significant transformations occurring within Yamaha that inspire hope for a comeback.

Management Changes and New Partnerships

In a bid to regain their competitive edge, Yamaha has made strategic changes in their management structure. Paolo Pavesio is the new team manager, succeeding long-serving Lin Jarvis, who remains onboard as an advisor. This shift in leadership is coupled with a fresh partnership with Pramac Racing, designed to solidify Yamaha’s satellite team operations.

Positive Signs from Pre-Season Tests

As they embark on the new racing calendar, Fabio Quartararo has stated he will “evaluate” Yamaha’s competitiveness following the opening five races. Early indications from the pre-season tests in Sepang and Buriram have injected optimism into the team. Notably, Yamaha secured top three finishes during all testing days in Malaysia, showcasing the potential improvements made over the off-season. However, the Buriram tests also highlighted areas needing attention, allowing Yamaha to refine their approach as they prepare for the upcoming challenges.
