The Challenge of the SF-25

The 2025 Ferrari SF-25 has stirred quite the conversation within the F1 community, especially as Lewis Hamilton prepares to make his debut behind the wheel next weekend at the Australian Grand Prix. While Ferrari fans are hopeful, former F1 technical director Gary Anderson has thrown a wrench in the excitement, labeling the SF-25 as not a “great upgrade” from the previously problematic Mercedes cars Hamilton drove last season.

The Ferrari Test in Bahrain

During the recent pre-season test in Bahrain, Anderson observed that the SF-25 is far from being a “driver-friendly” machine. This is particularly concerning as Hamilton, who made headlines with his move from Mercedes after twelve seasons, needs a car that aligns with his driving prowess and racing style. The new ground-effect rules introduced in recent seasons have already proven challenging, and the last thing Hamilton needs is to grapple with yet another troublesome vehicle.

Hamilton’s Road Ahead

Throughout his illustrious career at Mercedes, Hamilton has achieved remarkable milestones, equalling Michael Schumacher’s legendary record of seven world championships. Yet, since the adaptation to ground-effect regulations, he has managed only two wins since 2022. Will the Ferrari SF-25 prove to be the fresh start he’s been longing for, or will it bring back memories of his days battling the shortcomings of the Mercedes? As we gear up for the Australian Grand Prix, all eyes will be on Hamilton’s performance and whether this new chapter will lead to a thrilling season or yet another wave of challenges.
