The Legacy of the Renault 5 Turbo

Late last year, the French automaker thrilled fans by revealing the Renault 5 Turbo 3e electric super hatch. This marvel pays homage to the iconic Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 of the 1980s while embracing a modern twist. Renault has officially confirmed that the production version will roll off the assembly line in 2027, igniting excitement for enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Innovative Electric Performance

The Renault 5 Turbo 3e stands out not just for its striking design but also for its impressive performance capabilities. Departing from the traditional single front-mounted motor, this electric hatch features a bespoke platform equipped with an 800-volt battery pack. The dual in-wheel motors at the rear deliver a staggering output of 540 horsepower, propelling this two-door hatch from 0 to 62 mph in under 3.5 seconds. With its compact length of just 157 inches (4 meters), each launch promises an exhilarating experience.

Efficiency Meets Speed

This limited-run electric vehicle (EV) does not only offer remarkable acceleration; it also boasts a range of up to 250 miles (400 km) on a single charge. Thanks to its remarkable 350-kilowatt maximum charging speed, drivers can recharge from 15 to 80 percent in merely 15 minutes. Weighing in at 3,197 pounds (1,450 kilograms), the 5 Turbo 3e combines lightweight carbon fiber construction with thoughtful design, proving that running purely on electricity does not mean sacrificing performance for efficiency.
