Vettel’s Belief in Verstappen

Former F1 star Sebastian Vettel has expressed confidence that Max Verstappen has the potential to break his Red Bull record by securing a fifth world championship in 2025. In a candid conversation, Vettel shared his thoughts with Verstappen, stating, “You’re better than me,” which showcases his belief in the young driver’s abilities.

The Path to a Fifth Consecutive Title

Verstappen, having just won his fourth consecutive title in 2024, faces a formidable challenge in pursuit of a fifth straight championship, a feat no Red Bull driver has achieved before. His journey to this ambitious milestone is not without hurdles, especially after an intense race season where he experienced a 10-race winless streak. However, his determination shines through, matched only by the fierce competition posed by teams like McLaren, who have quickly demonstrated their strength with pole positions and race victories in the early 2025 season.

A Challenging Road Ahead

During a recent appearance on the BBC Sports World podcast, Vettel was prompted to assess whether this season could be Verstappen’s toughest yet. Vettel suggested it might be, but remained optimistic about Verstappen’s chance of success. Reflecting on their conversation, he recounted how Verstappen had been on the brink of breaking his record for consecutive Grand Prix victories, confirming his belief that if anyone can accomplish this incredible feat, it is Verstappen. “It’s just exciting to watch,” Vettel added, showcasing his enduring support and friendship with fellow drivers in the F1 community.
