Red Bull’s Strategic Move

In a significant turn of events ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing has decided to replace Liam Lawson with Yuki Tsunoda, as confirmed by paddock sources to planetf1.com. This decision comes after only two races of the F1 2025 season, highlighting the team’s commitment to optimizing their performance on the grid.

Lawson’s Brief Tenure

Liam Lawson, who was initially signed to partner Max Verstappen after Sergio Perez vacated his seat, has faced challenges during his short stint with the senior team. The New Zealander joined Red Bull following 11 races with the junior team, previously known as AlphaTauri. Unfortunately, Lawson’s performances in Australia and China have raised concerns, as he was eliminated in the first qualifying stages of both events.

Looking Ahead with Tsunoda

Yuki Tsunoda’s reinstatement marks a fresh chapter for Red Bull as they seek to improve their competitive stance. Lawson’s struggles culminated in a crash during his debut in Melbourne, followed by disappointing qualifying results in Shanghai, where he finished 12th. With Tsunoda back on board, Red Bull aims to harness the Japanese driver’s capabilities and experience, hoping for a revitalization of their team’s dynamics as the season progresses.
