Overview of the 2026 Hyundai Nexo

The 2026 Hyundai Nexo is set to redefine the market for hydrogen-fueled SUVs. This second-generation model draws inspiration from Hyundai’s striking design philosophy, reminiscent of the Initium concept car showcased recently. With the design language dubbed “art of steel,” the new Nexo stands out as one of the most exciting fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) available today.

Dimensions and Improvements

Measuring 187 inches in length, the latest version of the Nexo is slightly longer than its predecessor yet retains a 109.8-inch wheelbase. The new design is also taller and wider, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality. Notably, this model introduces an impressive towing capability, allowing a trailer weight of up to 2205 pounds.

Performance Capabilities of the New Nexo

Powering the 2026 Nexo is an advanced hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain. This upgraded system boasts a more powerful fuel stack that provides durability, especially in colder weather conditions. The front-mounted electric motor generates 201 horsepower, with a claimed acceleration of 0-62 mph in just 7.8 seconds, a significant improvement from the previous model’s 9.2 seconds. Furthermore, with a larger hydrogen tank and enhanced efficiency, Hyundai aims for an impressive driving range of over 430 miles.

Interior Features and Technology

Inside, the new Nexo embodies a sleek and spacious environment, paralleling other Hyundai vehicles. It features a modern dashboard with two 12.3-inch displays and an intuitive infotainment system that integrates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Excitingly, the Nexo also incorporates generative AI technology for enhanced voice commands, setting a new standard for in-car technology.
