Overview of the Recall

June has become a challenging month for Ford, as the automaker has announced the recall of more than 132,900 Lincoln Aviator SUVs. This concern extends to model years 2020 through 2025 and is part of a series of significant recalls that the company has faced this month. The primary issue involves the trim on the rear door window bars and c-pillars, which poses safety risks on the road.

Causes of the Problem

The recall stems from insufficient adhesive bonding in the trim pieces that secure the rear window bars and c-pillars. Inadequate bonding may lead to these trim parts detaching while the vehicle is in motion, thereby creating potential road hazards. This condition heightens the risk of an accident, underscoring the importance of addressing the issue promptly.

Remediation Steps and Contact Information

Ford has committed to offering free repairs or replacements of the affected c-pillar appliques and window division bars at authorized dealerships. Owners will receive notification letters starting July 28, informing them about the recall and the necessary steps for repairs. For more immediate assistance, affected vehicle owners can reach Ford at 866-436-7332 (recall number 25s66), or contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236. They can also check their vehicle identification number on the agency’s website for more information.
