Details of the Bronco EV and EREV

In an effort to control the flow of information, Ford has opted to reveal details and images of the Bronco EV ahead of time. The new model combines the ruggedness of the traditional Bronco with the sleekness of the Bronco Sport. However, unlike its gas-only counterparts, the Bronco EV will be available solely as an EREV or full EV. With dimensions that align closely with the medium to large electric vehicle segment, this Bronco is certainly engineered for the Chinese market.

Competition in the Chinese EV Landscape

Competing in a saturated market, the Bronco EV boasts a 105.4 kWh battery, providing an impressive 403 miles of range according to China’s testing cycle. The EREV model features a 1.5-liter turbo engine, which adds to its appeal. However, it faces stiff competition from established local manufacturers like BYD and Chery, which offer similarly styled and priced SUVs. Ford’s strategy seems focused on rebuilding its brand presence in China, where it currently lacks a strong electric lineup. The Bronco is expected to hit the market this winter, and its performance against domestic rivals will be closely monitored.
