This year has been a turning point for Toyota as it unveils an exciting range of new electric SUVs and crossovers set to hit Europe soon. Investment in European Production

In a bold step, Toyota plans to build electric vehicles in Europe for the first time at its new “mega hub” in the Czech Republic. A recent Nikkei report highlights a significant €17 million (.5 million) investment aimed at upgrading the facility, expected to produce around 100,000 EVs annually by 2028. This local production marks a crucial milestone in enhancing Toyota’s presence in the competitive European market.

Competing with an Expanding Market

Despite selling a record 591,115 vehicles in Europe during the first half of 2025, Toyota faces fierce competition, particularly from Chinese car brands which have surged ahead. Brands like BYD, XL, and Xpeng have surpassed established names like Mercedes-Benz and even Ford in the European market. With a combined market share of 5.1%, these competitors are raising the stakes, making it clear that Toyota must continue to innovate and enhance its electric offerings.
