A Step Towards Sustainability

In an exciting development for the community, Ridgefield, Connecticut, has just commissioned a sizable new solar carport at Ridgefield High School. This innovative project is not just about shade and parking; it’s set to pay significant dividends for the town of around 7,000 residents. Impact on Energy Costs and Carbon Footprint

Over the next 25 years, this solar endeavor is expected to save the school district an impressive $1.5 million in energy costs. Beyond financial savings, the initiative plays a crucial role in significantly reducing the district’s carbon footprint. This project embodies the spirit of sustainability that Ridgefield champions, highlighting the positive impact of renewable energy.

Collaborative Effort for a Greener Future

The solar carport project was brought to life through a collaborative partnership with Davis Hill Development, the Connecticut Green Bank, and Patriot Renewable Energy Capital, with AEC Solar managing the engineering, procurement, and construction phases. Their hard work wrapped up on an accelerated summer schedule to ensure minimal disruption during the school year. Additionally, financing was made feasible through various supports, including federal tax credits facilitated by the Biden Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act.

Mariana Cardenas Trief from the Connecticut Green Bank expressed pride in being part of this initiative, reinforcing their continued support of Ridgefield as the town moves closer to its clean energy goals. As Ridgefield takes this bold step forward in its renewable energy journey, it sets an inspiring example for others to follow.
