A Remarkable Success

This autumn, Bonhams auction specialists made waves at the Stafford sale, achieving a stunning total of £2,637,585 across 207 lots. The sale, which took place on October 12 during the classic motorcycle mechanics show, showcased some of the most iconic motorcycles ever to grace the auction block.

Highlighting Legendary Bikes

A standout feature of the auction was a pair of race-winning Honda V4s, once raced by the legendary Joey Dunlop. These bikes carried the spirit of victory, having been part of Dunlop’s illustrious career. The first, a 1988 Isle of Man TT-winning Honda VFR750R RC30, was expected to fetch between £80,000 and £100,000 but astonishingly sold for £132,250. Meanwhile, the 1999 Ulster Grand Prix-winning Honda RVF750 RC45 drew an impressive £92,000.

Joey Dunlop’s Legacy Lives On

The sale not only represented significant monetary success but also an emotional tribute to Joey Dunlop, a name synonymous with motorcycle racing excellence. Notably, the RC45 was involved in one of the most thrilling races around the Dundrod road course, elevating its status in the hearts of racing fans. This auction not only celebrated the motorcycles but also honored the legacy of a true racing icon.
