Introducing the Kia PV5

Kia’s first 100% electric van, the PV5, has taken the commercial vehicle world by storm. Not only did it make a significant impact at its debut earlier this year, but it also received the prestigious title of 2026 International Van of the Year at the Solutrans 2025 in Lyon, France. This remarkable feat marks the PV5 as the first Korean model to win this accolade, solidifying its reputation in the electric vehicle sector.

A Historic Achievement for Kia

The PV5 was chosen unanimously by 26 leading commercial journalists, beating out six other finalists. Kia’s CEO, Ho Sung Song, proudly remarked that this honor reflects both the untapped potential of fully electric vehicles and Kia’s commitment to redefining the commercial space. With this recognition, the PV5 has carved its niche as Asia’s first electric van to receive such distinguished recognition.

Innovative Designs and Future Expansion

Kia is not resting on its laurels; the PV5 family is rapidly expanding. Following the introduction of the passenger 5-seater and cargo long models, Kia unveiled a new chassis cab variant at Solutrans 2025. Plans for 2026 include launching several new models, such as the standard cargo and high roof variants. Additionally, at a tech day event in July, Kia revealed unique body types, including a light camper and refrigerated truck, showcasing the versatility of the PV5 platform.

The PV5 cargo long range even set a Guinness World Record for traveling 693.38 km (430.84 miles) on a single charge, highlighting its efficiency and durability. Built at Kia’s dedicated Hwaseong EVO plant, the PV5 production hub represents a significant step towards a sustainable future in transportation.
