The F450GS: Bridging the Gap

It’s been a year since BMW left us drooling over their F450GS concept at EICMA 2024. Now, the production version is here, enthusiastically leaping across the chasm between the G310GS and the F800GS. This adventure bike is available in four versions: basic (£6990), exclusive (£7290), sport (£7440), and trophy (£7760). Is it finally the adventure bike to thrill and chill?

A Parallel Twin with a Twist

All engines are created equal—or at least that’s what they try to tell you. The F450GS features a 420cc parallel twin, the first of its kind, thanks to BMW’s merry partnership with India’s TVS. The unique 135-degree crankpin offset dances away from the boring 180-degree and 270-degree options, paired with a balance shaft to ensure vibrations stay at bay. Prepare for a touch of the offbeat pulse while riding smoothly!

A Tech Wonderland on Two Wheels

With a weight of only 178kg, the F450GS is a lightweight marvel that meets the A2 licence power limit without straining its muscles. It’s like the bike has been hitting the gym! Its lightweight tubular steel chassis and hollow aluminum swingarm are just the tip of the iceberg. Tech features a-plenty include the innovative ERC centrifugal clutch system, standard on the trophy version. Say goodbye to clutch fatigue as this beauty learns to engage automatically! Add in ABS, dynamic traction control, and riding modes galore, and you’ve got a tech-savvy adventure companion that can handle a little rain or mud.
