The Largest Non-Tesla Charging Hub in Northern California

Ava Community Energy has officially brought its first EV fast-charging station online in downtown Oakland, California. This new charging hub stands out as the largest non-Tesla fast-charging facility in Northern California, featuring an impressive 18 Kempower DC fast chargers. With a mix of CCS plugs, a few NACS, and a CHAdeMO plug available, it caters to various electric vehicle needs.

Convenient Location for Residents and Commuters

Located inside the Oakland City Center West Garage, this station is strategically placed in one of the most bustling urban neighborhoods, making it easily accessible for commuters and residents alike. It’s particularly vital for roughly half of Alameda County’s residents who are renters and may not have regular access to home charging facilities. As such, public fast charging becomes an essential service for EV drivers in the area.

Supporting Oakland’s Equitable Climate Action Goals

Ava’s new charging hub aligns perfectly with Oakland’s 2030 Equitable Climate Action Plan. This initiative aims to incorporate frontline communities into the city’s climate strategy, underscoring the importance of providing necessary infrastructure to transition to electric vehicles. Howard Chang, CEO of Ava Community Energy, shared his vision: “Our goal is to expand access to clean, sustainable energy in large and small ways… Ava Charge is just one step in our overall goal to make the transition to carbon-free energy easier for all.” Ava has teamed up with San Francisco-based EV Realty to ensure the hub’s successful development and ongoing operation.
