Dreame, best known for its robot vacuums and home appliances, has revealed an unexpected new project at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas: a high-performance electric supercar concept it says is “engineered for records.”

The announcement places Dreame among a growing list of consumer electronics companies exploring electric vehicles, a trend that has gained credibility in recent years as China’s EV industry has rapidly scaled. Earlier examples, once viewed skeptically, have since moved from concept to production, reshaping expectations around who can realistically enter the automotive sector.

From Home Appliances to Electric Performance

Founded as a robotics-focused company, Dreame has expanded beyond robot vacuums into products such as cordless cleaners, hair dryers, and air purifiers. The newly revealed vehicle represents its most significant departure yet from consumer appliances.

The concept, called Kosmera Nebula 1, has been rumored for months following teaser images that drew comparisons to established European hypercars. Dreame officially unveiled the vehicle at CES, displaying it prominently outside its booth.

The exterior features a low, wide stance with aggressive aerodynamic elements, including a large rear wing and diffuser. The concept shown does not include a finished interior, and the exterior design notably lacks traditional door handles, which may reflect its concept status rather than production intent.

Claimed Performance Targets

Dreame claims the Kosmera Nebula 1 will produce 1,876 horsepower via four electric motors, enabling acceleration from 0–62 mph in 1.8 seconds. The company also says the car will feature active aerodynamics, though technical details remain limited.

These specifications place the concept in the same performance discussion as other high-end electric hypercars from China and Europe. Dreame has stated that its goal is to pursue outright performance records, including targeting the title of the world’s fastest car, not limited to electric vehicles.

Production Plans and Manufacturing Strategy

While detailed specifications have yet to be released, Dreame has indicated a tentative production target of 2027, a timeline that would be ambitious by traditional automotive standards. However, recent precedents within China’s EV sector suggest that rapid development cycles are increasingly possible.

Dreame also announced plans to establish production near Berlin, close to Tesla’s existing manufacturing footprint, in partnership with BNP Paribas. Beyond this single model, the company suggested that Kosmera will become a broader vehicle family, releasing teaser images of additional sporty electric models.

Context

For now, the Kosmera Nebula 1 remains a concept with bold claims but limited disclosed engineering detail. Whether Dreame can translate its consumer electronics expertise into a viable high-performance EV program will depend on execution, manufacturing readiness, and regulatory approvals in the years ahead.
