Italian motorcycle exotica rarely comes more niche than the Zaeta 530 DT, and two ultra-rare examples have now landed in the UK via Krazy Horse. Built in extremely limited numbers, the 530 DT is less a conventional production bike and more a rolling statement of purpose—created by racers and engineers for riders who value feel and function over mass appeal.
A Bike Born From Racing, Not Marketing
The Zaeta project was conceived by a small group of deeply rooted motorsport figures: Paolo Chiaia, flat track racer Marco Belli, MotoGP engineer Giulio Bernardelle, and Graziano Rossi. Their shared goal was simple but ambitious—to build the ideal off-season training tool for elite Grand Prix riders.
That vision was put into practice close to home. Valentino Rossi himself has been known to spend winter months sliding a Zaeta around dirt tracks near his hometown, using it not as a showpiece but as a pure riding instrument.
Engineering Focused on Feel
First introduced in 2009 and refined over time, the 530 DT is powered by a 528cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine supplied by TM Racing—the same unit used in the brand’s competition supermoto machines. With 55bhp at 8,000rpm and 38lb.ft of torque, the numbers may appear modest, until they’re paired with a dry weight of just 115kg.
Central to the bike’s character is its billet aluminium open-cradle frame, CNC-machined for stiffness and minimal mass, and visually matched to the wheel hubs. The bodywork—fuel tank, carbon fibre tail and mudguards—is purpose-designed by Zaeta, prioritising durability and rider movement rather than aesthetics alone.
High-end components underline the bike’s uncompromising nature: Marzocchi USD forks, Öhlins rear suspension, and Brembo brakes working on a compact 1339mm wheelbase. Everything about the 530 DT is built around control, balance, and rider feedback.
More Than a Collectible
Priced at £14,950, the two UK bikes are offered with zero miles and a warranty. While undeniably rare, the Zaeta 530 DT isn’t designed to be a museum piece. It exists to be ridden, slid, and used—reflecting an old-school philosophy where motorcycles were tools for skill, not platforms for technology.
