Lexus has officially revealed pricing for the redesigned 2026 Lexus ES, and one detail stands out immediately: the all-electric version will actually start at a lower price than the hybrid. With a starting price of $48,475, the new electric ES becomes one of the most competitively priced luxury EV sedans entering the U.S. market.

The eighth-generation ES represents a major transformation for the long-running Lexus sedan. For the first time, the model is built as a multi-platform vehicle, offering both hybrid and fully electric powertrains. This strategy allows Lexus to serve traditional hybrid buyers while gradually expanding its presence in the electric vehicle market.

A Fresh Design Inspired by Lexus Concepts

The new ES adopts a significantly updated design language inspired by the Lexus LF-ZC Concept that debuted at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. Lexus has refined its signature spindle grille into what it calls a “spindle body”, giving the sedan a smoother and more aerodynamic appearance suited to electric vehicles.

The redesign is not only about aesthetics. Compared with the outgoing model, the new ES features improved proportions and a more modern exterior profile that helps it compete more effectively with newer luxury EV sedans.

Inside, Lexus has focused heavily on technology and usability. The cabin features the latest version of the Lexus Interface multimedia system, which promises faster performance and a more intuitive user experience. A 14-inch central touchscreen handles navigation and infotainment, while a 12.3-inch digital driver display provides key driving information. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, helping keep the system competitive with rival luxury vehicles.

Electric Powertrains and Driving Range

The electric ES will be available in two versions. The ES 350e uses a front-wheel-drive setup and is expected to deliver a driving range of about 300 miles with 19-inch wheels. Meanwhile, the ES 500e features all-wheel drive and produces higher performance, although its estimated range drops slightly to around 250 miles.

2026 Lexus ES trim Starting Price*
ES 350h Premium $50,995
ES 350h Premium AWD $52,395
ES 350h Premium+ $55,795
ES 350h Premium+ AWD $57,195
ES 350e Premium $48,795
ES 350e Luxury $57,195
ES 500e Premium $51,795
ES 500e Luxury $60,195

Lexus will offer both Premium and Luxury trims for each electric model. Notably, the entry-level ES 350e Premium becomes the only ES variant — hybrid or electric — priced below $50,000. That makes the EV version surprisingly accessible for a luxury sedan in this segment.

Another practical upgrade is charging compatibility. Like many new vehicles from Toyota’s EV lineup, the ES EV includes a built-in NACS charging port, allowing drivers to access Tesla Supercharger stations across North America. Lexus estimates the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes under ideal conditions.

Competing in the Growing Luxury EV Segment

The 2026 ES EV will enter a competitive field that includes models such as the Tesla Model 3, BMW i4, and Hyundai IONIQ 6. While some of those rivals emphasize performance or futuristic styling, Lexus appears to be positioning the ES EV as a balanced luxury option focused on comfort, reliability, and everyday usability.

Pricing may become one of its biggest advantages. Starting under $50,000 places the ES EV within reach of many buyers who previously considered only hybrid or gasoline luxury sedans.

Final Thoughts

The introduction of the electric Lexus ES signals a more serious commitment from Lexus to the EV market. By offering an electric sedan that is both competitively priced and backed by the brand’s reputation for comfort and reliability, Lexus may attract buyers who want to transition to electric vehicles without sacrificing the traditional luxury sedan experience.

If the ES EV delivers on its promised range, charging convenience, and interior refinement, it could become an important bridge between Lexus’ hybrid legacy and its electric future.
