Anticipated Updates for Tesla Models

Tesla, the leader in electric vehicles, is shifting its focus back to the original Model S sedan and Model X SUV after successfully refreshing the Model Y SUV, which accounts for nearly two-thirds of their sales in the U.S. The company’s vice president of vehicle engineering, Lars Moravy, recently announced in a podcast episode that both the Model S and Model X will receive updates later this year.

What to Expect from the Refresh

While specific details remain scarce, Moravy indicated that Tesla plans to give the Model S and Model X “some love.” This suggests that we can expect minor refreshes rather than substantial overhauls. The updates may mirror the style changes introduced in the Model Y earlier this year, which included a sleeker front-end design and modifications like a full-width light bar and updated taillights.

Interior Changes and Market Competition

Internally, significant changes are unlikely. The Model S and Model X interiors are already incredibly minimalist, raising debates about the potential return of the turn-signal stalk instead of relying solely on steering-wheel buttons. As the EV landscape evolves, competition from manufacturers such as Rivian, which is seeing success with its R1S SUV and R1T pickup truck, highlights the need for Tesla to keep their models competitive.

While these refreshes may not dramatically impact sales volumes, they will be closely watched by enthusiasts and consumers alike. Stay tuned for more developments as Tesla reveals additional information about these updates.
