Introduction to Alpine’s A390

Alpine, the French automaker renowned for its gas-powered A110 sports car, is gearing up to expand its footprint in the United States with a new lineup of electric vehicles (EVs) slated to launch starting in 2027. The centerpiece of this ambitious plan is the A390, an electric crossover that aims to make its mark in the competitive EV market.

Design Features of the A390

Recently, Alpine released images of the A390 undergoing testing in Sweden, showcasing a vehicle that closely resembles its initial concept revealed last year. While camouflaged, the prototype reveals distinctive features such as sharp headlights linked by a light bar and highlighted with LED elements that Alpine dubs “cosmic dust.” The production version also maintains a general adherence to the concept’s design, sporting deep contours along its body and innovative elements reminiscent of the Dodge Charger Daytona’s airflow design.

Powertrain and Performance Details

The A390 is set to be equipped with a tri-motor powertrain featuring active torque vectoring, designed to enhance performance and agility. Alpine promises multiple driving modes, including a dedicated track setting, allowing enthusiasts to experience the A390’s full capabilities. Dimensions indicate the A390 is poised to compete effectively in its segment, measuring 181.7 inches in length and 60.3 inches in height. As we await its full reveal scheduled for May 27, excitement grows for what the A390 will contribute to Alpine’s entry into the U.S. electric vehicle market.
