Subaru’s Smallest EV Arrives
The Subaru-Toyota electric alliance is shifting into high gear. Following the Solterra and Trailseeker reveals, Subaru has introduced its third EV collaboration: the 2026 Subaru Uncharted. Based on the same platform as Toyota’s new C-HR, the Uncharted is a compact electric SUV that slots beneath the Solterra in Subaru’s lineup, measuring nearly seven inches shorter but still offering over 25 cubic feet of cargo space under its sloping hatch.
Despite its sleek roofline, Subaru promises ample headroom and Crosstrek-like rear legroom, making it practical for everyday use.
Design and Features
Although it shares its core with Toyota’s C-HR, the Uncharted sports distinct Subaru styling, including the brand’s six-element EV signature headlights borrowed from the Solterra and Trailseeker. Wheel options include 18-inch and 20-inch designs, while the cabin adds bold orange interior accents for a sporty flair.
Performance and Range
Under the hood (or rather, under the floor), the Uncharted packs a 74.7-kWh battery and offers two configurations:
-
FWD Single Motor: 221 hp, expected range over 300 miles
-
AWD Dual Motor: 338 hp, 0–60 mph in under 5 seconds, range around 290 miles
Both versions support DC fast charging, going from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
Trim Levels and Tech
The lineup starts with the Premium (FWD), then steps up to Sport (AWD) and the range-topping GT (AWD):
-
Premium: Heated front seats/mirrors, windshield wiper de-icers, power liftgate, ambient lighting, 14-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, dual wireless phone chargers, rear USB-C ports.
-
Sport: Synthetic leather, heated steering wheel, Subaru X-Mode, 360° camera system.
-
GT: 20-inch wheels, panoramic moonroof, two-tone roof option, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, Harman Kardon audio.
Subaru’s EyeSight safety suite is expected to include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane assist, traffic-jam assist, and more—though full details are pending.
Pricing and Availability
The 2026 Subaru Uncharted will reach dealerships in early 2026. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed, but industry insiders expect it to start in the low-to-mid $30,000 range, keeping it competitive in the small EV SUV segment.
💡 Will Subaru’s smallest EV become a game-changer in the compact SUV market? With over 300 miles of range, distinctive styling, and Subaru’s AWD credibility, the Uncharted could be a major player in 2026.
