The Shift from Solterra to Three
Subaru is electrifying its lineup—and no, we aren’t talking about its love for adventure (that’s still the Outback). Currently selling only the Solterra, Subaru plans to up its game with a trio of electric vehicles. Next year, the Solterra will play middle child, sitting snugly between the compact Uncharted and the family-friendly Trailseeker.

Small Electric Dreams on the Horizon
Now, if we’re feeling extra adventurous, the rumor mill indicates Subaru might give us a surprise smaller model—a B-segment EV. Global head of electric cars, Inoue Masahiko, hinted that it’s all “up for consideration.” After all, in a world soon to be jam-packed with EVs, who doesn’t want to run for the tiny city car crown?
Racing Against the Competition
David Dello Stritto, Subaru’s European boss, is keeping an eye on the competition, tasked with deciding if there’s room for a subcompact electric vehicle in Subaru’s lineup. As the Renault 5 e-tech and its ilk flood the streets of Europe, Subaru might just need to speed up its plans. But let’s not rush! Stritto suggests waiting at least a couple of years to see how the Uncharted performs. And in that time frame, new ideas? Yes, please!
What’s in a Name?
Should Subaru bring a B-segment EV to market, what will it be called? The possibilities are as fun as naming your pet! Will we see an E-Justy zooming down our streets? Only time will tell. But remember, Subaru is keen on familiar names, especially for its European fans. With competitors lurking in the city car shadows, it’s certainly an electrifying time for Subaru—and we can’t wait to see what they deliver!
