Get Charged Up About Level 2 EV Chargers!

If you live in or develop apartments in California, there’s some electrifying news—up to $56.5 million in fresh funding has just rolled in for Level 2 EV chargers! Thanks to the Communities in Charge project, backed by the California Energy Commission, this money is all about making your multi-family housing more accessible for electric vehicle enthusiasts.

Who Can Plug Into This Funding?

Are you a California property owner or a stakeholder? If you’re ready to install Level 2 chargers at your multi-family digs or nearby tenant-accessible locations, this funding is for you! Forget about pesky deadlines; applications opened today at 9 AM PT and will run through January 9, 2026, at 5 PM PT. So, make haste, don’t let that charging opportunity gallivant away!

What’s Under the Hood?

Each Level 2 port can snag you up to $8,500! Plus, starting in October, the program will also offer an additional $2,000 for every publicly accessible Level 1 port. For our tribal communities, extra bonuses are in store—talk about a win-win! With an equity-first approach, projects serving disadvantaged and low-income areas will get pushed to the front of the line. Stacey Simms from Calstart sums it up perfectly: this initiative is breaking down barriers, so every Californian can go electric!

Ready to become part of California’s electrifying future? Click ‘submit’ and get your application rolling! Remember, projects that showcase readiness will snag immediate notice of final awards, while those needing extra time get a “conditional award”—just be sure to keep that paperwork handy!
