Big News for VW EV Owners

After months of anticipation, it’s finally happening! Starting November 18th, Volkswagen EVs can use Tesla’s Superchargers. This exciting development follows a year of delays, but for owners of the VW ID.4 and ID.Buzz, the wait is over. With over 25,000 charging locations available, long road trips just got a whole lot easier!

What Took So Long?

Let’s rewind a bit. VW was one of the initial companies to announce access to Tesla’s charging network. Back in January, they pledged that drivers would have Supercharger access by March. However, as the months rolled on, hope morphed into frustration. VW seemed to keep pushing back the dates. So, what gives? After numerous inquiries and a fair bit of radio silence from VW’s PR team, the news finally broke!

How to Charge Up

Using the Supercharger stations requires a NACS adapter, available for $200 (or CAD 304 in the Great White North). This nifty device opens the doors to Tesla stations for your VW EV. For those with model year 2025 vehicles, you can snag a 0 rebate on the adapter, provided you purchase it before July 15, 2026. And great news for 2026 models — the adapter will come standard!

Mark your calendars and prepare for a charging revolution. With Turbo charging stations ready to go, Thanksgiving travel may be a breeze for VW EV owners after all!
