Introducing the Revolution: Ducati’s DesertX
All good things come to those who wait, and Ducati enthusiasts have been patiently waiting for four years to see what the Bologna brand has up its sleeve. At the recent EICMA trade show, Ducati unveiled the next generation of their beloved DesertX, and trust us, it’s worth the wait! We’re talking a spiffier engine, a slimmer figure, and tweaked suspension geometry that promises to elevate your dirt adventures to a whole new level when it rolls into dealerships come May 2026.

Meet the New Heart: The 890cc V2 IVT Motor
Gone is the Testastretta—yes, the iconic v-twin engine is being retired to the hall of fame. In its place? The new 890cc V2 IVT, which may be a slight downgrade in cc but promises more than enough zip with 108bhp at 9000rpm and a torque of 68lb.ft at 7000rpm. All in all, this new powertrain is more than capable of meeting those hard-hitting trails while keeping that trademark Ducati thrill intact!
Less Weight, More Adventure
What’s that saying? “A lightweight bike is a happy bike.” Or something to that effect! This model boasts a delightful 4kg weight loss, bringing the total to 206kg wet. This is partly due to ditching the old trellis frame for a new engine-as-stressed-member layout. Yes, you heard it right! This clever design not only lightens the load but might also improve handling—although we caution that this should be tested during those serious off-road escapades!
As the excitement builds, remember to mark your calendars for the complete reveal this February, just in time for the launch in May 2026! Keep an eye out, adventure seekers—this DesertX looks like it might just steal the show.
