What’s All the Buzz About the MG4?
So, the day has finally arrived! SAIC MG has officially rolled out its first MG4 model that boasts a semi-solid-state EV battery. And get this—it’s priced under $15,000. This little electric hatchback made its grand entrance at the Chengdu Auto Show in August and is now deemed the “world’s first mass-produced semi-solid-state” EV. Talk about being ahead of the pack!

A Battery with a Side of Innovation
The new MG4 is available in five trims: Comfort, Ease, Freedom, Smart, and of course, the semi-solid-state “Secure” edition. The base model starts at just 68,800 RMB (about $9,800), which is dangerously attractive for budget-conscious car lovers. You get two battery sizes to choose from: a smaller 42.8 kWh providing 437 km (271 miles) range, or a larger 53.95 kWh variant delivering a whopping 530 km (330 miles) of range. Not to forget the semi-solid-state model, ensuring peace of mind with longer life cycles and reduced combustion risks!

Every Bit (and Byte) Counts
Under the hood, it’s powered by a front-mounted “six-in-one” electric motor churning out 121 hp and 250 Nm of torque, and you can juice it up from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes using DC fast charging! But wait, the real star is its tech-savvy cockpit, packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 in-car chip, and for the techies out there, it comes with a dazzling 15.6″ display in higher trims—goodbye squinting at tiny screens!
In a world where EVs could fizzle out or go up in flames, the MG4 shines bright. With over 13,000 units delivered in November alone, it’s become a beacon of success for independent automotive brands not just in China but overseas too. So, buckle up, ’cause the MG4 is here to electrify the roads!
