A Once-in-a-Lifetime Yamaha R1: More Than a Superbike, It’s a Piece of Racing History

For World Superbike fans with both deep pockets and deep passion, a truly rare opportunity has emerged. Crescent Motorcycles has put up for sale number 01 of just 21 Toprak Razgatlıoğlu World Championship Replica Yamaha R1s, priced at £59,995. On paper, it’s an extraordinary machine. In reality, it’s something far more meaningful.

This limited-edition R1 commemorates Toprak Razgatlıoğlu’s breakthrough 2021 WorldSBK title, a season that not only crowned the Turkish rider as world champion but also delivered Yamaha its first Manufacturers’ Championship since 2009. For Yamaha and its fans, that year marked the end of a long wait—and the beginning of a new era.

Built by racers, for believers

Each of the 21 replicas was hand-built in Crescent’s Racing Pro Shop in Verwood, Dorset, by the very team responsible for running Yamaha’s official WorldSBK operation. That detail alone separates this bike from most “replicas.” This isn’t a showroom tribute—it’s a machine shaped by people who lived that championship campaign.

Described as the ultimate track-ready R1, the bike produces a claimed 205 bhp at the rear wheel, around 20 bhp more than a standard R1, thanks to a WorldSBK-spec Akrapovič exhaust and GYTR ECU. Just as impressive is the 26 kg weight reduction, bringing wet weight down to a scarcely believable 175 kg.

Racing soul in every component

Beyond the main frame, swingarm, and engine, much of the hardware has been swapped for race-grade equipment. The suspension is pure pedigree: Öhlins FGRT 219 forks, a TTX rear shock, and an Öhlins steering damper. Braking is equally uncompromising, with a Brembo Corsa Corta master cylinder feeding Brembo GP4-RX calipers, all mounted on lightweight Marchesini M7RS wheels.

These are not cosmetic upgrades. They are the kind of components chosen when lap times matter.

More than metal and numbers

What truly elevates this R1 beyond its specifications is its human connection. Each bike carries unique limited-edition badging, a signed build ID, and a framed certificate signed by Toprak Razgatlıoğlu himself and team principal Paul Denning. It’s a tangible link to a defining moment in modern superbike racing.

Final outlook

At nearly £60,000, this Yamaha R1 isn’t about value for money—it’s about value of meaning. For the right owner, it represents belief, persistence, and the rare moment when talent, teamwork, and timing align perfectly. In an era increasingly dominated by electronics and automation, this bike stands as a reminder that racing—and passion—are still profoundly human.
