Refreshed 2024 Hyundai Sonata (Finally): at a base price of $28,615

The facelifted 2024 Hyundai Sonata: At a base price of $28,615 (including destination), the Sonata’s sticker jumps a significant $2,050 from the 2023 model — but buyers will get more content for that price. The 2024 line drops the base Sonata SE and now opens with the SEL trim. With similar levels of equipment between the 2023 and 2024 models, that base price actually represents a drop of $475 for the 2023 SEL.

For 2024, Hyundai fitted new front and rear ends to the Sonata, trading the vertical lighting elements that stretched up along the hood of the outgoing car for a single, slim horizontal bar emphasizing the sedan’s width. The treatment is echoed on the rear, where a thin taillight stretches across the trunk lid. Inside, an available 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster merges seamlessly into a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen in a single, clean, curved housing. Moving the shifter from the center console to the steering column further declutters the cabin.

Standard Equipment
The 2024 Sonata will include a competitive suite of advanced driver-assist systems. Standard safety equipment will include forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitors, active lane departure steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking.

Additional standard features on the SEL include heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a hands-free power trunk with kick sensor. The available Convenience Package adds a panoramic moonroof, 18-inch wheels, the aforementioned 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, the ability to use your smartphone as a key, navigation and wireless charging. Moving up to the N Line grants you trim-specific front and rear styling, 19-inch alloy wheels, a Bose audio system with 12 speakers, and the equipment that comes with the Convenience Package.

For the 2024 Sonata hybrid, the SEL trim gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel, synthetic leather door panel inserts and wireless device charging, while the Limited variant comes with blind spot cameras that appear in the digital gauge cluster, a 360-degree camera system, a head-up display and ambient lighting.

Powertrains
In a Sonata first, the 2024 model will be offered with all-wheel drive. The Sonata SEL is powered by a naturally aspirated 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. With standard front-wheel drive, the SEL is EPA-rated at 25/36/29 mpg city/highway/combined; AWD gets 25/34/28. The N Line performance model has a 290-hp, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic; it’s good for 23/32/27 mpg.

The Sonata Hybrid again employs a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that’s paired with an electric motor for a total of 192 hp; it comes with a six-speed automatic. The EPA has not yet released fuel-economy estimates for the hybrid, however.

The facelifted 2024 Hyundai Sonata is set to go on sale any day now, and now we finally know what it’ll cost. At a base price of $28,615 (including destination), the Sonata’s sticker jumps a significant $2,050 from the 2023 model — but buyers will get more content for that price. The 2024 line drops the base Sonata SE and now opens with the SEL trim. With similar levels of equipment between the 2023 and 2024 models, that base price actually represents a drop of $475 for the 2023 SEL.
