War Horse’s builds use the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van as a base. According to War Horse, the vans are equipped with the base 170-hp turbo-diesel inline four-cylinder engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. The vans feature the optional 4Matic all-wheel-drive system and can be built on either the standard 144-inch wheelbase or the optional longer 170-inch-wheelbase Sprinter. An aftermarket suspension kit and a two-inch lift from Agile Offroad handle the damping, while the van rides on 35-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler all-terrain tires.

The upfitted versions are equipped with a beefier air-conditioning unit, water heater, clothes dryer, heated floor, and storage for fresh and gray/black water. They also come with a kitchenette and a bathroom with a toilet and shower.

After choosing your wheelbase, the build section of the War Horse website allows potential customers to choose from options like wheel size or wrap color, and interior customizations like your stone of choice for the kitchen and bathroom, and wood for the flooring and cabinets.

According to the website, each van sleeps four people. There’s a queen-size bed that tucks into the ceiling, “with additional area underneath for a twin mattress for two kids or one adult.” While the use of premium materials such as stone and hardwood is certainly a nice touch, the industrial-looking bench seats in the rear of the van give off a much less premium look.

According to War Horse, custom builds take 90 days from start to finish. According to War Horse, custom vans are priced from $250,000 to $300,000.
