Introducing the SB1 Outfit
Watsonian Squire has made waves in the motorcycle community by launching an affordable motorcycle and sidecar combination, the SB1 outfit. Priced at £7999, this innovative product was revealed at Motorcycle Live, and for a limited time, buyers can take advantage of a special offer that reduces the cost by £500. This makes the three-wheel experience more accessible to a wider audience.
The Inspiration Behind the Design
Managing Director Ben Matthews shared insights into the company’s vision for the SB1 outfit. He referenced the 1980s when Squire produced an abundance of sidecars for budget Jawa and MZ motorcycles. This historical context helped them create fantastic economies of scale, making sidecars a viable option for numerous riders. As interest remains high, Watsonian decided to develop a modern equivalent under the Squire brand, differentiating it from their bespoke Watsonian range.
Features of the SB1 Outfit
To keep the overall price point reasonable, Watsonian opted for the Benelli Imperiale 400 as the basis for this motorcycle-sidecar duo. Priced at £3699 when sold separately, it features a robust air-cooled 374cc motor, capable of managing the additional weight of the sidecar. The sidecar itself boasts a durable powder-coated tubular steel frame and employs modern rubber torsion suspension for a smooth ride. Furthermore, the bodywork is crafted from lightweight GRP fibreglass, and a cost-effective GRP wind deflector is included instead of a traditional full windscreen, ensuring comfort without compromising affordability.
