Introduction of Free NACS Adapters

In an exciting announcement, Hyundai revealed that it will begin distributing free NACS adapters to its electric vehicle (EV) customers starting in the first quarter of 2025. This initiative aims to enhance the charging accessibility of various Hyundai models, including the popular Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, by enabling them to connect to over 20,000 Tesla supercharger stations.

Eligibility for the Free Adapter

The free NACS adapters will be available to customers who purchased or leased their Hyundai EVs on or before January 31, 2025. This offer is set to include several models, such as the 2024 and earlier Kona Electric, Ioniq Hatchback, and Ioniq 5 and 6. Additionally, the 2025 versions of these models will also qualify for this convenient adapter, including the 2025 Ioniq 5 N, the 2025 Kona Electric, and models from Hyundai’s Genesis brand. A complete list of eligible vehicles will be announced next year.

Accessing the NACS Adapter

Hyundai customers can request their free NACS adapter through the My Hyundai owner portal. Meanwhile, Kia, Hyundai’s sister brand, will also follow suit by offering free NACS adapters to select owners. It is noteworthy that the 2025 Ioniq 5, featuring a native Tesla port, will be able to access the supercharging network upon delivery. In contrast, owners of older CCS-native models will need to wait for the approved adapters to gain equivalent access.

This proactive approach by Hyundai not only demonstrates its commitment to enhancing electric vehicle infrastructure but also ensures greater convenience for its customers as the EV landscape continues to evolve.
