Overview of the Kia Sorento Recall
Kia is recalling a significant number of Sorento models due to headlight and taillight failures. In total, 74,469 vehicles are impacted, primarily due to a software-logic issue in the body domain control unit (BDC). The vast majority of the recalled vehicles are the nonhybrid Sorento models, totaling 63,782. Additionally, 8,937 standard hybrid models and 1,750 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) versions are included in this recall. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the models produced on or after September 19, 2024, come equipped with updated BDC software, eliminating the risk of this issue.
