Overview of the Recall

Toyota has announced a recall affecting approximately 41,000 of its Camry sedans, along with NX and RX SUVs from the Lexus luxury brand. This concern pertains to the center seat belt in the second row of these vehicles, which may have been damaged during the manufacturing process.

Potential Risks

The damaged seat belt does not meet the necessary strength requirements, which significantly increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash. As safety is a paramount concern for both Toyota and Lexus, addressing this issue promptly is essential for the well-being of the vehicle occupants.

Replacement and Notifications

Dealers will be conducting inspections of the center seat belt webbing in the affected vehicles. If any defects are found, they will replace the seat belts at no cost to the owners. Toyota has committed to notifying vehicle owners by early April regarding this recall. In the meantime, owners with inquiries can reach out to Toyota at 800-331-4331, Lexus at 800-255-3987, or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236. Additionally, vehicle identification information can be checked on their respective websites for more details.
