Overview of the Recall

Tesla is recalling a staggering number of its Cybertrucks, specifically affecting more than 46,000 vehicles. This widespread recall primarily targets the model-year 2024-25 Cybertrucks due to concerns regarding an exterior trim panel. The trim in question, known as the cant rail, is a glued-on piece made from stainless steel that has been reported to potentially detach while driving. Such detachment poses a significant road hazard, increasing the risk of crashes or accidents.

Details of the Issue

The decision to initiate a recall was prompted by safety concerns regarding the glued-on cant rail. As it may disengage from the vehicle, this defect could lead to serious safety implications for both the driver and others on the road. Tesla has acknowledged the issue and is taking proactive measures to ensure owner safety. The company aims to resolve this by replacing the affected trim components at no cost to the vehicle owners.

Next Steps for Owners

Tesla will begin notifying affected vehicle owners starting May 19. For those who have immediate inquiries or concerns about the recall, Tesla offers support through their dedicated number at 877-798-3752 (recall number sb-25-10-001). Similarly, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) provides a vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236. Vehicle owners can also visit Tesla’s website to check their specific vehicle identification number and gather further information regarding the recall and the necessary steps to take.
