Revving Up for Sustainability

Suzuki is set to make a notable comeback at the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race scheduled for August 1-3. With an ambition to further their carbon-neutral racing project, Team Suzuki CN Challenge is taking it up a notch with their upgraded GSX-R1000R, now powered by 100% sustainable fuel. This isn’t just about speed; it’s a leap towards environmental consciousness in motorsport. Expect aerodynamic wings and enhanced eco-friendly technology, foreshadowing exciting developments for future road bikes.

A Look Back and Ahead

Last year, Suzuki secured the eighth position after challenging competitors in the experimental class using a 40% bio-sourced petrol mix. This time around, they ditch that blend in favor of a product provided by TotalEnergies that is entirely sustainable. The hope? To build on last year’s performance while showcasing commitment to greener racing—something that MotoGP aims to emulate by 2027. Former MotoGP team lead, Shinichi Sahara, is steering this initiative, drawing from a robust foundation of support and expertise.

Rallying Support and Expertise

Assembling a dedicated team primarily comprised of Suzuki employees alongside Yoshimura Japan, the foundation is strong. Ex-MotoGP rider Takuya Tsuda will be back at the helm, piloting the bike that boasts a full superbike trim. From upgraded chassis to enhanced suspension and braking systems, every aspect is designed for both performance and sustainability. Suzuki President Toshihiro Suzuki noted the significant achievement from last year, attributing it to collaboration and fervent fan support. As Suzuki gears up, there’s palpable excitement to see how this will unfold, merging the thrills of racing with an environmentally responsible future.
